Waterloo Royal Horse Guards
This is a REPRODUCION of the iconic British Heavy Cavalry helmet of the Napoleonic wars. First introduced in 1812 onto the Iberian Peninsula it saw service with the Life Guards and Royal Horse Guards and similar helmets were also introduced for the Dragoons of the period.
The helmet shell is in two halves and made of blackened leather sewn through the centre. To this is added a brass peak and a helmet plate inscribed with the Georgian cypher and crown and the name of the designated regiment. At the base of the scull in brass are three rows of ornamental scales. To the side is a brass plume holder and a feather plume in red and white. The top of the scull has an inscribed brass crest with Meduca's Head surmounted by a red and black woollen comb. The chin chains consist of rows of the same ornamental scales with a leather backing and leather ties.
The interior has a leather liner with felt backing.
This is a rare and well crafted reproduction which necessitated 8 different dies to be produced for the brass stamping of the various parts.
These helmets are priced at £690 plus postage.
